A few weeks ago I spent some time at a music store comparing 3 large diaphragm mics: the RODE NT1A, the AKG C3000B, and the Neumann TLM 103. Before buying (and even knowing about the TLM 103) I went and tried all the Blue mics + Rode... and at some point we tried a TLM 103 and to me, it simply sounded much more natural. The Set –Up: A store salesperson set me up with the 3 mics in a quiet room. Try comparing the tlm 103 to a Rode nt1a and you'll see(and hear)that the 200 dollar nt1a will out perform it. With a capsule design based on the legendary U87, the TLM-103 also has a louder output signal and lower self-noise. tnx, chris P.S. While both condenser microphones are outstanding, the almost double-price for the TLM-103 is warranted, for its fuller, richer bass response, and crisper, airier high frequencies. You should reallt try them at your local store. Can I really get a better sound out of the the Neumann than I could get out of the Rode NT1-A. No coloration to the sound. You'll hear the boxiness of the tlm 103 and the almost perfect sound of the rode nt1a. the tlm103 also lacks highs(no way near as transparent as a Rode nt1a or a neumann u87I. Two clients of mine have the Rode K2. Hey everybody! I've had the mic for about a year now, and I just cannot get the sound I'm looking for. I own a Rode NT1-A and compared it to the Neumann and it's night and day. Should I return it and get NTK (they still don't have it in stock yet!) ($400 vs $1200)?? However, is it worth the extra $500 when I have a Scarlett Solo and the ART TPS II? Just a quick question. I initially wanted to buy NTK but they didn't have one in stock so I got the Neumann. ? Now, immediately, I want to get the Neumann, because I know I can trust them. I'm having trouble getting the sound that I want from the the Nuemann tlm 103. Neumann TLM-102 vs TLM-103: Which Is The Better Mic? It is between the Rode NT1-A and a Neumann TLM-102. I recently bought Neumann TLM-103 mic but I am wondering what is your opinion of it and more importantly how it compares to Rode NTK mike. Listen with quality studio monitors or with quality studio headphones. Also highly sensitive, it’ll record the little noises that exist in your studio, ... Neumann TLM 103. Any help will be highly appreciated. I had a Rode NT2A condenser before the 103, and the NT2a was getting better results for me than the 103 is. Each mic was mounted on the edge of the table in front of where I was seated, each with its own shockmount. I have compared my TLM to the K2 at their studios. Like the Rode NT1-A, the AKG C214 does not sound like a cheap condenser mic and is, in fact, comparable to expensive microphones. I've just this second found another model on the internet called the Neumann Tlm 193, the Neumann Tlm 103 seems to …
